Narrowing It Down: Top 5 Events on Campus This Week – 10/13/12

Only one week stands between you and those glorious October Study days. Till then, fill your time with some events on the the weekly top 5.

Interested in the Peace Corps? – Tuesday, October 16 @ 5PM, Titsworth Living Room

I might be the only one who finds this to be stupid cool, but a rep from the Peace Crops is coming to campus to answer any and all questions. The Peace Crops began in 1961, and they currently have volunteers in over 76 countries. If this sounds like something you could possibly be interested in( at some point in your life you definitely thought about it), then RSVP to and enjoy some free pizza and refreshments!

SLAC Film Series: Moonrise Kingdom – Wednesday, October 17 @ 8PM, Film Viewing Room

Oops, sorry guys! You can veg out to Andrew Garfield in spandex next Wednesday because this week it’s Moonrise Kingdom. It’s the latest Wes Anderson flick spot lighting on young love.  If you’re completely out of the loop, SLAC has film screenings every Wednesday and Friday. This isn’t all that new of an event, but it’s certainly worth going to for the popcorn and the mid-week distraction.

Specialty Cheeses Lunch – Thursday, October 18 @ 12, Bates

I’m trying not to get my hopes up about this, but I’m failing miserably. If you’re not entirely sure as to what I’m referring to, check out what Bates has in store for you this semester( I mean, cheese… ‘nuff said, right?

Agent Ribbons and Piney Gir at SLC – Thursday, October 18 @8PM, Bates Blue Room

If you’re feeling the urge to listen to some Indie music( I know you are, you go to Sarah Lawrence) then come to the Blue Room on Thursday! Agent Ribbons is taking time out of their busy touring schedule and making an appearance with Piney Gir to stop by OUR school. Uhh hello free concert!

Trader Joe’s Van – Saturday, October 20 @ 3:30PM, Andrew’s Parking Lot

If you’re like me it’s about the time of year when Bates is getting old, the pub is feeling a bit grimy, and Stop and Shop really isn’t cutting it. Luckily, Student Senate sponsors a van to take us on a TJ’s shopping trip! Come a bit early as the van will be pulling out of the parking lot at 3:30( I know for some of you that’ll mean telling yourself it’s leaving at 2:45. You know who you are). It’s also prospective students day, so it might be a nice escape from campus for a while.

    Hi Emelyn,
Just thought to let you know that SLAC had switched The Amazing Spider-Man and Moonrise Kingdom due to some issues with Kingdom’s pre-release thing. This week, we will be showing Moonrise Kingdom instead of Spider-Man. I know it is reflected wrong on the Campus Calendar, but it is in fact true based on SLAC’s discussions and it’s event report.
