Free your mind with free trade?

Coming up tonight, at 5:30pm in Titsworth Lecture Hall, Jagdish Bhagwati, a Columbia University professor of economics, is giving a lecture called “The Case for Multilateral Free Trade.” A former advisor to the director of the World Trade Organization (WTO) and author of the book In Defense of Free Trade , Bhagwati also serves on the Academic Advisory Board for Asia of the Human Rights Watch. This lecture will certainly address the hot topics of international politics and markets from a standpoint probably little foreign to most of us more liberally-minded (not to be mistaken with neo-liberal) Sarah Lawrence kids. For anyone intrigued by questions of globalization, changing modes of production, or really anyone curious about The State of Affairs, come down to Titsworth tonight!

Here are a few web-things Bhagwati is involved with:

Nina Sparling (Editor, “What’s Up”) is a bi-coastal aspiring bread baker frustrated with the current food system. Originally from Berkeley, she moved to New York, complaining most of the way, until she found the Met and figured out the subway (but still has serious envy for Bay Area vegetables). Currently a sophomore at Sarah Lawrence, Nina studies languages, political ecology, and geography and tries to figure out how they all relate.
