Fall Playlist: A Season for Soft Contemplation

In this season of change, we tend to find ourselves contemplating what we’ve done so far and what is yet to come. When you’re sitting around in your favorite sweater with a cup of tea, check out these songs to help you process and reflect.

1.  “Swing Life Away” – Rise Against

Best lyric:     But we’ve had some times, I wouldn’t trade for the world

We chase these days down with talks of the places that we will go

2. “The Passenger” – Iggy Pop

Best lyric:     We’ll see the bright and hollow sky

We’ll see the stars that shine so bright

The sky was made for us tonight

3. “Edge of Town” – Middle Kids

Best lyric:     I came a little closer to the truth that day…

And the one resounding answer that I could take

Is that I don’t know nothing

                           And I got no way

4. “Sleep Forever” – Portugal. The Man

Best lyric:     Don’t need no preacher

                           To make us believe

                           That everything’s perfectly

                           Fucked up like me

5. “Drunk Drivers/Killer Whales” – Car Seat Headrest

Best lyric:    But if we learn how to live like this

Maybe we can learn how to start again

Like a child who’s never done wrong

Who hasn’t taken that first step

6. “Shake Me Down” – Cage The Elephant

Best lyric:     In my life I have seen people walk into the sea

Just to find memories plagued by constant misery…

I keep my eyes fixed on the sun

7. “The Freshman” – Emory Quinn

Best lyric:     For the life of me

                           I cannot remember

What made us think that we were wise

                           And we’d never compromise

8. “Cocoon” – Milky Chance

Best lyric:     But there’s so many things we could do

And all we need is escaping, escaping

9. “Maps” – Yeah Yeah Yeahs

Best lyric:     My kind’s your kind

                           I’ll stay the same

10. “The Trapeze Swinger” – Iron & Wine

Best lyric:     Only now it seems so silly

That season left the world and then returned…

11. “The System Only Dreams in Total Darkness” – The National

Best lyric:     Also no other faith is light enough for this place…

                           I can’t explain it, oh

                           Any other, any other way

12. “Tear” – Red Hot Chili Peppers

Best lyrics:     Seems to me like

                           All the world gets high

                           When you take a dare…

                           This is my time

13. “Youth” – Glass Animals

Best lyric:     Boy, now your life is back-to-front

But you’ll see that’s not for long

‘Cause I know you’ll feel the ghost

                           Of some memories so warm
